Class Descriptions

BEGINNING YOGA A sequential learning class building on poses from one week to the next. New students benefit from a more focused detailed class, continuing students can work on perfecting your basic poses and refining alignment. Incorporating the Universal Principals of Alignment and life-enhancing philosophy of Anusara yoga. Classes will teach poses from the Anusara Level 1 syllabus. (see www.anusara.com)

An upbeat flow-style class that stengthens and stretches to remove stress. Like happy hour, you get the same class for 1/2 price! Our intention is to give you financial incentive to rock out the house more often. These classes will be Level 1-2. Join the merry band of Yogawerks community. Classes are all levels. Come play with us. Class Times: Sundays: 4-5:15pm with Robbin, Mondays: 6:30-7:45pm with Kathy, Fridays: 6-7:15pm with Nadiya. Cost: $8 for adults, $5 for 23 & under. Cash only, please.

8-WEEK BEGINNER ANUSARA 101 CLASS
An 8-Week in-depth focus on Anusara Yoga geared towards advanced and beginning level students. Founded in 1997 by John Friend, Anusara combines a strong emphasis on physical alignment with a positive philosophy derived from Tantra. The philosophyÕs premise is a belief in the intrinsic goodness of all beings. Anusara classes are usually light-hearted and accessible to students of differing abilities. Poses are taught in a way that opens the heart, both physically and mentally, and props are often used. An elegant, concise set of alignment principles called the "Universal Principles of Alignmentª" is applied to each asana in the Anusara Yoga method. A central idea within the Universal Principles of Alignment is the 3 A's: Attitude, Alignment, and Action. This refers to a foundational concept within the Anusara method in which every pose is infused with a meaningful intention connected to the grand purposes of yoga, awareness of specific postural alignment, and balanced action between stability and freedom. The specific principles include Muscular Energy and Organic Energy, which are the two complementary forces that provide each pose with a balanced action. Other alignment principles include Spirals and Loops, which help to bring refinement and precision to each pose. YOGA 1-2 Focuses on refining the standing and sitting poses, back bends, and building endurance, using the Anusara Yoga principles of alignment. The fundamentals of handstands and arm balances are introduced. Students strengthen arms and shoulders as they develop techniques leading to these postures. Teaches poses from the level 1 and 2 Anusara syllabus. (see www.anusara.com)

YOGA 1.5-3 Focuses on a more advanced practice, ideally for those practicing at least one year. Poses will include arm balances, Inversions, binds & advanced seated poses. Students should be able to do handstands on the wall and backbends on their own. Teaches poses from the level 2 and 3 Anusara syllabus.

HIP OPENING CLASS is an all level class that focuses on hips, hamstrings and shoulders. Unlock your untapped potential by opening your hips. The root of many back & knee problems stems from having tight hips. Through this transformation and therapeutic practice, you will experience more freedom in the body.

VINYASA FLOW let your mind surrender to the movement of the body w/a meditative, flowing practice. This class will challenge your muscles and your mind by combining sun salutations and breath directed movement with held poses. Level 2 will include inversions and arm balances.

THE PRACTICE Led practice with Chad. Students work with Chad and each other to advance their practice. Students should be able to do a handstand on the wall, backbends on their own. Level 2: advanced, Level 3: super-advanced. Teaches poses from the level 3 Anusara syllabus.
